I took this picture to document my clean cleaning supplies for my San Francisco Green Business Certification.

8 Ways to Clean Cleaner

  1. Bring in nontoxic friendly cleaning supplies and make them easily accessible.

  2. Use lots of lemons. I use them to clean and freshen my kitchen sink, stove and frig surfaces.

  3. Put Castile soap where you can find it, for instance on kitchen and bathroom counters. Castile soap is vegetable-based, chemical-free and doesn’t contain any synthetic ingredients or animal fat. It is considered an all-purpose cleaner.

  4. Make hydrogen peroxide available in a spray bottle.

  5. Put white vinegar in a spray bottle.

  6. Heed the warnings about ammonia. It is irritating to our bodies and corrosive to some materials. Read the label.

  7. I got this tip from Neepa for cleaning the oven: “Coat oven with a half a lemon. Place a heat-tolerant bowl of water on the shelf in the oven and bake at 250° for one hour. Wipe clean.”
