Plastic Cutlery Made from Cornstarch

Thanks for your question - is cornstarch cutlery is compostable? It is my understanding that is it a complicated issue. However, when making a purchase, consider the whole life-cycle impact by using these simple guidelines of the 7 R'S of Sustainability - RETHINK, REFUSE, REDUCE, REUSE, REPAIR, ROT, RECYCLE.

Here's a link to an article called "Corn Utensils Useless Without Major Composting Efforts” that explains some of the issues. It says, "Corn forks must be professionally composted at high temperatures, or they’ll end up sharing landfill space with Styrofoam.”
